Hi, I'm Rich Smartt.
I'm a writer, and voice actor, focused on helping businesses connect with their customers in a couple of ways:
1) Clear and compelling words that make it easier for readers to become and stay customers.
This involves writing for human beings with the human voice in mind, as a copywriter.
(2) Voiceover narration that literally amplifies your brand's story.
This involves taking what your writers have written, tapping into their intent, and conveying it as a voice actor.
It's been my experience that (1) helps to improve (2), and vice versa.
My background in art, business and tech informs both areas.
There are many reasons this is good news for my clients, but here are a few:
In hundreds of stage appearances as a performance poet, I learnt
a lot about capturing and respecting audience attention.
It's the same principle that you want to see embodied in your copy:
Captured, respected audience attention.
Your product or service delivering on it's promise.
Beyond the mere exchange of value—x amount of money for y product or service—your
customers are in search of something else.
As a performance coach I've learnt that
it's only when we're intrigued by what makes our customers tick,
that we can hope to produce something they'll find intriguing.
In coaching, as in writing, clarity and empathy are the touchstones of a job well done.
I bring these with me to every writing and recording session.
If brand is the position you occupy in the mind of your customer,
then tech is the bridge that helps get it there.
Whilst a Computing undergrad way back in 2003, I was apprenticed into web design at a tech startup.
The penny dropped and I haven't left the web alone since.
I went on to specialise in the tech side of
web content management systems, and how people learn online.
These days no piece of media stands alone;
understanding, from a technical point of view, where your finished media will sit
within the grand network of the interweb means:
(1) I'm always creating with the end context in mind;
(2) along the way, we'll have more options, about how to get what you want, than we would otherwise.
Let's talk shop. Let's talk about what will inspire your customers to talk about shopping with you.
